Cosmetic dentistry is a type of professional dental care that focuses on making your teeth seem better. Even though aesthetic dentistry operations are usually optional rather than mandatory, some types of treatment do have restorative benefits. Discover the most routine methods and how they function.

1. Inlays and Onlays are two types of inlays and Onlays.

Indirect fillers, which are manufactured by a dental laboratory, are another name for this cosmetic dentistry practice. When a tooth has mild to moderate decay or there is insufficient tooth structure to sustain a filling, they are used. The inlay is placed directly onto the tooth surface if the tooth cusps are not damaged. When the cusp of a larger section of the tooth is injured, your dentist may recommend an onlay.

Inlays and Onlays were previously made of gold, but they are now commonly manufactured in a dental laboratory from a composite of porcelain or ceramic material and adhered to the teeth with dental cement glue. They maintain teeth by strengthening them, restoring their shape, and preventing future decay and degradation.

2. Composite Adhesion

Composite bonding is the process of repairing decayed, broken, or discolored teeth with a substance that closely resembles the color of tooth enamel. Your dentist removes the decayed tooth, then applies the composite to the tooth’s surface, “sculpts” it into the desired shape, and cures it with a high-intensity laser. Patients with tooth decay chipped or fractured teeth, or worn-down edges can benefit from bonding, which is one of the most affordable cosmetic dentistry operations.

3. Veneers for the teeth

Dental veneers are custom-made crowns that cover your natural teeth and are often constructed of medical-grade ceramic. They have a very realistic appearance and can correct a variety of cosmetic issues, such as crooked teeth, cracked or damaged enamel, and obvious gaps between teeth. Using dental glue, the dentist places the veneer on the front of each tooth.

4. Whitening of the teeth

One of the most common cosmetic dental procedures is teeth whitening. It may usually be done in just one visit to your dentist’s office. Plaque, tartar, and other debris will be removed from the surface of each tooth by the dental hygienist, returning its natural appearance. The teeth can then be whitened with a bleaching chemical to achieve a tint that is even lighter than the original.

Teeth become stained and worn over time as a result of food, alcohol, medication, and personal behaviors like smoking. Whitening is a technique that coatings the teeth and can be done in the dentist’s office or at home. Patients can also obtain the same effect in one to two weeks by using toothpaste. This product whitens teeth in more than three shades over two weeks and optimal results within four weeks.

5. Implants

Dental implants are used to replace teeth that have been lost or damaged. A small titanium screw is inserted into the jaw at the site of the lost tooth, which acts as a support for a crown. These implants are nearly indistinguishable from the natural teeth around them. The implant is firmly locked into place once the bone and supporting tissue fuse to it. To clear plaque and food debris from the area, patients must exercise meticulous oral hygiene during the implant placement time and after the treatment is completed.

If you’re thinking about cosmetic dentistry, it’s critical to identify a cosmetic dentist who specializes in the surgery you want. They’ll provide you with more information about which procedures are ideal for you.
